Double Page first draft

Here is my first attempt of a double page spread, and as you can see i have tried to adhere to the MixMag contents page i have found, if you look to one of my previous posts you can see i have tried to keep the style the same. I am not happy with the main image as i think its boring and doesnt really stand out from the page. I will try and fix these changes next lesson.

Final Contents Page

Here is my final contents page and as you can see from the image below i have tried to adhere to the MixMag contents page. I have also tried to adhere to my front cover through colours and fonts. I have tried to make my magazine clear to read and consistent throughout as all other house magazines are like this. I also decided to create my own album cover as i had to create a 'free CD'. This makes the contents page look allot more professional and adheres to allot of the MixMag contents pages.

Update !

As you can see i have completely changed the font and layout of my cover lines, i decided to change the font as i think it looks allot more professional and it also adheres to many of the 'mix mag' magazines i have looked at. I am also concerned about my mast head as i think it looks a little put of place, i might chance the title of my magazine so it stretches across the top of the mag making it look allot more like the mix mag magazine.

Update

In this lesson i played with the layout of my front cover, i have two covers i have decided upon. I would like feedback on the two as i need to make further annotations on them for my final draft. I also added a pitch under my masthead which most other dance magazines have.

Front Cover Update

In this lesson i have updated my front cover even further to get to my final piece, i have decided to get rid of the 'free DJ poster' pug as i think it looks less professional, and added another subheading to fill in the space that i have left. Overall i think my front cover looks allot more professional and also adheres to the rest of my mag as i have used the same fonts and colours.

Creamfields 2014 Line Up

Here is the 2014 Creamfields line up that was announced on wednesday, many top DJs if not all the biggest DJs in the world are performing this summer, i myself have grabbed a ticket for two of the three days of the festival and also visited the prior year. This summers Creamfields is hosted with the worlds best DJs and some upencoming DJs that i am also excited to see. If you are unfortunate to not visit the festival of edm Creamfields are putting up a live stream on YouTube.

final draft NO.2

Here is my second attempt at my front page, is from my first i realised a few adjustments can me made to make my front cover look more professional and ad hear to other music magazines of my genre. I decided change the cover lines by changing the font and by highlighting the words it makes the text stand out from the rest of the mag but not to much that it takes it away from the main headline. this also ad heared to the music magazine 'mixmag' which my front cover is based upon. i then added a blue transparent layer over the background image as it makes the DJ stand out from the rest of the image. this also helps to give the front cover a house style as it makes the background look more neutral. i think this makes my front cover look allot more professional and gives it a better style for the reader to look at, this helps to catch the readers eye and read on.

Mix Mag Double Page Spread

Here is the MixMag magazine i purchased and i am going to adhere to this for my own double page spread. I will use one image to fill one side of the page and use allot of text on the other. This not only grabs and entices the reader through the main image but i think it looks allot more simplistic and easier to read. MixMag dont really have a main style or type of double page spread in any of their issues so theres nothing i can adhere to but i think this issue is one of their best as it made me want to read on.

Costume Inspiration

Here are costume and props i will use for my front cover as allot of dj's wear dark clothing and mostly named brands. i have decided to use decks aswell as the mixmag front cover i have used has decks in it. i will use the decks from my school music department.

Double Page Spread Analysis

As you can see i have analysed a MixMag double page spread, i have also annotated it to help me create my own double page spread and adhere to MixMag's style. I will also take into consideration the colours and picture styles they have used to help create my own House/Electro music magazine.

MixMag Contents Page Analysis

As i will be using 'MixMag' magazine to take reference for my magazine from, i have decided to annotate the contents page of the MixMag magazine. All the MixMag contents pages have roughly the same layout and design so this can adhere to the rest of the issues. By annotating the page it helps me find out what i need to do on my own contents page and make to make it look more professional and adhere to the style of this genre.

edited front cover main image

Here is an image i edited for my front cover, i decided to change the Hue and Saturation to make the image stand out more. I then plan to crop the image out and put it into a Festival scene to adhere to the topic of my mag.

Swedish House Mafia - Don't You Worry Child ft. John Martin (+playlist)

Through watching the Swedish House Mafia music video 'Dont you worry child', it has inspired me to do my own music magazine front cover. The SHM music video is very simplistic but yet extremely powerful, the video shows the three DJs from their point of view overlooking a festival looking crowd.
The video also use allot of black and white filters giving a simplistic view but through the music used it portrays this, this is what i want to use on my front cover, a DJ or DJs from their point of view being highlighted from the rest of the image with a festival background so the many people who buy the magazine can relate to a festival scene.

front cover images

Here are some photos i had taken that i could use  for my own music magazine, i have used a green screen so i can edit my pictures into another scene such as a festival.

I plan to use photoshop to edit the green screen out and put the image into a festival setting.
